“Yes No” is a diploma work of the students of the German course at the Zhurgenov National Academy of Arts; refined and polished incarnation of the didactic opera “Der Jasager. Der Neinsager” by one of the greatest playwrights of the 20th century, Bertolt Brecht. This is a poignant philosophical tale of the burden of choice and mutual responsibility, of the deep, almost insurmountable chasm that lies between the personal and the societal. A complex ethical equation that does not and cannot have a simple solution.
The play premiered in 2014 at a student theatre festival in Brno, Czech Republic, where it was performed three times (!) at the request of guests and the jury of the festival. "Yes No" is a Grand Prix winner of the "Otkrovenie" festival in Almaty, and a participant of theater festivals in Brno (Czech Republic), Miryang (South Korea) and Kochang (South Korea). The production was awarded the Best Director and Best Supporting Female Actor prizes at the State Festival of National Theatres in 2015 (Shymkent city).
