Description
Sarah Vaughn is one of the greatest vocalists in the history of jazz, the owner of a unique voice with an incredible range, velvety timbre and amazing freedom of musical expression. She was called Sassy and The Divine One, and her performance became a true standard of jazz vocals. Sarah was able to turn each song into an independent story, masterfully playing with melody, rhythm and harmony.
Her legacy continues to inspire musicians around the world, and this evening at EverJazz is dedicated to her.
Ekaterina Khomenkova's quintet invites you to recall the music that reveals jazz in all its richness: from elegant ballads to compositions that require special vocal freedom and a sense of swing. In such a program, not only precision of execution and technical skill are important, but also the ability to convey the character of the original, while maintaining its own personality. This is an opportunity to hear once again how multifaceted jazz vocals can be and how organically it combines emotional depth, virtuosity and ease of improvisation.
We invite you to an evening dedicated to one of the brightest stars of jazz history. You will encounter the musical legacy of Sarah Vaughn, an artist whose voice continues to fascinate listeners even decades later.
