Once again in Almaty, the French comet Mederic Colignon, which has already swept through the stage of our club and ignited the audience at the jams of the international festival "Jazz Festival".
A cornetist and trumpeter with a classical education, he has been teaching at the Paris Conservatoire for almost 20 years. But it is wrong to limit him to one instrument: he is also an outstanding vocalist, a master of skate improvisation, who masterfully mixes jazz vocals, beatbox and vocalizations in a high register.
On stage, he is pure, indomitable energy: he jokes, charges, improvises on the move, and in his music, behind all the filigree technique, there is something unearthly, as if he can reproduce melodies that are not yet available to others.
His skill was recognized by legends: Robert Fripp himself and Bill Bruford personally praised his original arrangements of King Crimson for string quartets. And in December 2024, his album "Arsis Thesis" was released. Yvan Robilliard took part in the recording, the same pianist with whom Mederic lit up at the EverJazz festival jam.
