«Eye of the collector», film screening

Almaty Museum of Arts

Description

This is a story of an era of hope, audacity, and the quest for identity. The film traces the journey from the very first piece entering the collection - a wooden mask by Serenjab Baldano acquired by art patron and founder of the Almaty Museum of Arts, Nurlan Smagulov - to the opening of the monumental exhibition Qonaqtar, which brought together hundreds of masterpieces.

Audiences will discover how this unique collection, which today comprises over 700 works, was meticulously assembled, alongside the remarkable journeys that brought these Kazakh artworks back from London and Israel.
